Operations
Kokterek Mining's operations are structured around a wellfield and processing plant model consistent with acid in-situ leach (ISL) extraction — the predominant uranium production method used across Kazakhstan's uranium-bearing sedimentary basins.
Injection wells introduce a dilute sulfuric acid leaching solution into the ore-bearing sand horizon. The resulting pregnant leach solution (PLS) is recovered through production wells and piped to the processing plant, where uranium is recovered by ion exchange and precipitated as a concentrate prior to onward transport.
Block 2
The company's original wellfield, in continuous production since 2011.
Block 4
Second-phase wellfield, brought into production in 2016 as part of the company's resource development programme.
Block 7
The company's most recent wellfield addition, in production since 2019.
Recovered solution is processed through a two-train ion exchange circuit, with acid dosing and precipitation stages producing a uranium concentrate for onward transport. Supporting infrastructure includes on-site laboratory facilities for process control and quality assurance.
The site is supported by a permanent operations and maintenance team, together with a small number of specialist contractors providing chemical supply, equipment servicing, and logistics. Enquiries relating to site operations should be directed via the Contact page.
